Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader to oversee a crew of technicians maintaining and enhancing residential landscapes. In this role, you’ll lead by example, ensuring every property meets high-quality standards while keeping the team organized, motivated, and safe.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in landscape maintenance, proven leadership skills, and a working knowledge of plants and trees native to Southern Ontario. You understand how to care for local species, maintain healthy gardens, and guide your crew to deliver exceptional results in every season.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Crew
- Supervise and guide a team of maintenance technicians
- Train, mentor, and motivate crew members to improve skills, efficiency, and safety
- Set clear expectations and provide constructive feedback
Landscape Maintenance
- Oversee and participate in maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, weeding, and general site care
- Ensure lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and other landscape features are maintained to a high standard
- Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and vehicles, reporting any issues promptly
Planning & Organization
- Organize daily schedules, routes, and task priorities to meet client expectations
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to allocate resources efficiently
- Monitor progress on site and adjust plans to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met
Client & Site Communication
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, addressing questions or concerns in a professional manner
- Ensure client satisfaction through high-quality work and clear communication
- Make on-the-spot decisions to resolve unexpected challenges safely and efficiently
Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example when it comes to safety protocols and PPE
- Conduct daily safety checks and ensure the crew follows all procedures
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, crew hours, and equipment usage
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years in landscape maintenance, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of plants, turf, and landscape maintenance techniques
- Experience operating and maintaining commercial landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, irrigation systems, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with a team
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and problem-solving on site
Licences & Certifications
- Valid Ontario G-class driver’s licence with a clean abstract
- Safety, horticulture, landscape industry certifications
Physical Requirements
- Love working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to perform physically demanding work
